Litigation Paralegal
We are looking for Litigation Paralegal for a law firm in Liverpool
Duties
- Drafting legal documents and preparing exhibits and evidence
- Preparing and amending Court form
- Providing timely and relevant updates to supervising fee earner
- Notifying supervising fee earner in the event of being unable to complete any designated task
- Identifying any issues outside specific remit or competence and referring to supervising fee earner or other appropriate fee earner
- Dealing with incoming correspondence intended for the Department if required
- Generating outgoing correspondence and documentation utilising fully the case management system and all standard precedents
- Ensuring that new client information is sent and recorded in accordance with Professional Conduct Guidelines
- Opening and closing client files in accordance with the firm’s internal procedures
- Preparing bundles and preparing for Court hearings
- Maintaining and updating correspondence and other filing
- Attending on clients, taking instructions and carrying out such tasks as are delegated by supervising fee earner in relation to client matters
- Making and receiving telephone calls
- Maintaining complete and accurate client/matter records in both electronic and hard copy
- Managing own work load by maintaining an effective electronic diary
- Recording adequate file notes of activity to accurately reflect and justify the time recorded
- Attending internal meetings as required
- Ensuring that own legal knowledge is kept up to date, to include updates of all internal and professional procedures, attending training courses and researching changes in law and practice and procedure
- Undertaking legal research and reporting on that research
- Ensuring that the electronic time record is entered for each chargeable and non-chargeable activity undertaken and that the time sheet is posted to accounts at the end of each working day

Knowledge
- Understanding of legal process
- Knowledge of the construction of legal case files
- Basic understanding of legal accounting principles
- Understanding or appreciation of client care, confidentiality and security issues
Experience
- Previous Paralegal/Legal Assistant experience in Civil or Commercial Litigation (essential)
- Both High Court and County Court litigation experience (desirable)
- An interest in, or experience of employment law (desirable)
Education
Law Degree or Equivalent (desirable)
