We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a senior immigration lawyer to join a Manchester based firm.

The right candidate will have their own client following to start a new immigration department and able to deliver Immigration advice and communicate with range of clients. This is a fantastic opportunity to enhance your profile and career in a friendly and supportive environment.

Being part of the team, your personal responsibility will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Providing main point of contact assistance to clients regarding UK immigration issues and act as the relationship leader;
  • Providing technical advice to clients in all aspects of immigration issues;
  • Advising and preparing immigration applications to the highest standard;
  • Managing a wide variety of caseload;
  • Liaising with local authorities or professional body to obtain required information;
  • Keeping up to date with the current UK immigration legislation;
  • Developing collections of precedents for immigration and reviewing precedents on an ongoing basis;
  • Ensuring the immigration department is SRA/OISC compliant;
  • Providing marketing and business support in order to win more work, including helping to devise business development strategies.6

LONG TERM

  • Heading the immigration department;
  • Providing guidance and advice to fee-earners in relation to the law and supervise trainees as required;
  • Identifying and planning appropriate legal training for the immigration team, assisting in arranging an immigration training programme, some training delivery and liaising with internal and external speakers as appropriate;
  • Responsible for carrying out file audits to ensure the fee earners are dealing with matters correctly and to identify any training needs

You should have the following skills and experience:

  • A solicitor with minimum of 3 years PQE or equivalent;
  • Preferably Level 2 SRA accreditation, which is equivalent to Level 3 OISC
  • Excellent advocacy skills
  • Experience of managing own immigration caseload
  • Have a well-established existing client base
  • Excellent client handling and business development skills
  • Culturally aware and have a international outlook
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent computer skills especially with Microsoft packages and case management systems
