Solicitor
We are looking for a Solicitor to join a West Midlands based firm to represent clients at Police Stations, Magistrates’ Courts and oversee the preparation of cases.
Duties will include,
- Prepare and represent clients at Magistrates’ Courts in respect of all cases
- Deal with Duty Solicitor cases at the courts or police stations as required
- Instruct/ brief counsel as required or oversee the work of caseworkers to do so
- Offer guidance to caseworkers and less qualified members of staff
- Represent clients who require advice in relation to proceedings before the courts for criminal offences
- Attend at police stations to represent and advise clients who are under arrest for summary, either-way & indictable offences
- Able to ensure all files comply with office requirements and deal with all correspondence in and out of office on a respective file
Job skills
- Qualified as a Solicitor with at least two years PQE
- Accredited as a Duty Solicitor and eligible for membership of the relevant Duty Rota Scheme
- Have a detailed knowledge of Criminal Law to include relevant statutes, case law & Criminal Procedure Rules
