Legal Advisor
We are currently recruiting for a Legal Advisor for the Personal Injury department of a law firm in Manchester.
Duties will include, but not be limited to,
- To demonstrate a good understanding of the technical issues involved in dealing with a litigated case
- To have an excellent working knowledge of credit hire and relevant case law
- To operate in line with both internal and external compliance standards
- To demonstrate the ability to take on individual responsibility within the context of a team environment
- To demonstrate commercial awareness and a proactive approach to all aspects of work
- To demonstrate strong decision making skills
- Be able to achieve financial targets on a monthly and annual basis and to contribute to the profitability of the team as a whole
- To demonstrate a good understanding of the civil procedure rules
- To have an excellent working knowledge of road traffic accidents and relevant case law
- To demonstrate excellent communication skills including client awareness and client care
- To demonstrate an ability to manage risk on an individual and team level
- Maintains strong relationships with both internal colleagues and external customers and agencies.
- Ability to handle a caseload of both small claim and fast track cases
- Ability to handle cases up to the value of £25,000
With addition of below for relevant level:
LEVEL ONE
- Ability to handle a caseload of both small claim and fast track cases
- Ability to handle cases up to the value of £25,000
LEVEL TWO
- Ability to handle a caseload of both fast track/multi track cases
- Ability to handle cases up to the value of £50,000
Job knowledge, Skills & Experience
LEVEL ONE
- Experience of dealing with small and fast track litigated cases over a period of 2 years or more
- Excellent telephone manner
- Good working knowledge of the CPR
- Ability to draft court documents/witness statements/instructions to counsel without supervision
- Good customer service skills
- Good organisational & interpersonal skills
- Good oral communication skills
- Excellent fact finding skills
- Assertiveness and a determination to “get things done”
- Be PC literate having a basic knowledge of the Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Be a good ‘People’ person and work well as part of a team.
- A working knowledge of PROCLAIM would be an advantage
CREDIT HIRE LITIGATION TEAM
- Proven track record of dealing with credit hire cases
- Excellent knowledge of current case law affecting credit hire
- Excellent knowledge of the principals of credit hire and ability to plead a claim correctly to address all issues attached to credit hire
- Proven track record of dealing and liaising with credit hire organisations
The role will be based in Personal Injury and we predominantly deal with EL/PL/Contract Breach/Enforcement/Fraud/RTA/Outstanding Vehicle Finance
We are looking for someone who will have a background in Personal Injury and 2 years of small and fast track Litigated casework.
There is the opportunity to progress internally to L2 if they complete objectives and training to coincide with this.
