We are currently recruiting for a Clinical Negligence Vetter for our clients firm in Manchester.

Duties will include but not limited to:

  • Assess prospects accurately and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail whilst working under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Deal with any difficult customers or customer queries
  • Sound experience of handling Clinical Negligence claims or vetting
  • Possess a commercial awareness of the viability of a claim and particular contract
  • Respond by telephone within one hour to new and varied clinical negligence enquiries, often several times daily
  • Assess viability of claim and accept or reject
  • Check all entities are on database  / add entities and populate visual files
  • Draft clinical negligence protocol form of authority & other authorities and send to client
  • Contact AVMA etc. for details of appropriate expert/s
  • Consider CVs – check no potential conflict
  • Write to expert/s to enquire as to suitability / availability to prepare report
  • Receive records
  • Read medical records, cross reference and note relevant issues
  • Obtain client’s witness statement / send detailed instructions to agent to obtain witness statement
  • Draft detailed instructions to medical expert to prepare Screening report
  • Receive screening report
  • Send to client with advice
  • Consider whether further Screening report is required
  • Draft further instructions to expert/s as appropriate
  • Obtain documents in support of claim for losses and expenses
  • Collate additional medical records
  • Draft detailed instructions to medical expert/s to prepare Condition and Prognosis report
  • Draft Schedule of Loss
  • Draft detailed Letter of Claim
  • Instruct Counsel as appropriate
  • All steps to progress claim to negotiated settlement / Trial
  • Communicate with Defendant / Defendant’s representatives and all third parties throughout
  • Pay invoices

As the role may expand to include Industrial deafness claims, the candidate will need to be capable of handling or be willing to learn to handle such claims.
