Wills & Probate Solicitor

Our client is looking for a Wills & Probate Solicitor for their Lancashire based firm.

To assist the Department Head, including some complex matters for high net worth clients, Court of Protection, wills, trusts, LPAs and estate administration legal services to be delivered from the Preston office.

Must have 3 years PQE

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lasting Powers of Attorney
  • Trusts
  • IHT planning advice
  • Business development including attending out of office hours events as appropriate
  • Leadership, managerial and supervisory duties
  • Wills
  • Complex estate administration with a supervisory role over junior lawyers undertaking more straightforward estate administration matters
  • Applications for Court of Protection orders

Key Performance Indicators of the role

  • Completion of the STEP diploma
  • Maintenance and development of your knowledge and expertise in the areas outlined above
  • Generate sufficient leads and referrals in order to achieve fee income targets
  • Meeting chargeable hours and fee income targets set

Successful candidate must have

  • Ability to work with all levels of staff
  • Professionalism
  • Excellent organisational, administrative and IT skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Effective time management skills

Although back up will be available, the ability to work unsupervised is essential

An enthusiasm and aptitude for business development is vital – a track record will be advantageous

General experience in drafting wills (including the use of trusts to assist in the mitigation of IHT, asset preservation and bloodline planning), trusts, estate administration, Lasting Powers of attorney and court of protection work

STEP qualification and membership of Solicitors for the Elderly will be an advantage though not a pre requirement.
