Associate – Commercial & Intellectual Property

We are currently recruiting for an Associate/Senior Associate for the Commercial and Intellectual Property department of a law firm in Liverpool.

The Associate / Senior Associate solicitor will provide comprehensive, detailed and solution-focused legal advice to clients and colleagues on matters including:

  • General intellectual property advice
  • Infringement opinions and litigation support
  • Intellectual property audit reviews
  • Intellectual property contracts including licensing, sponsorship agreements, merchandising agreements, royalty agreements, and assignments
  • Commercial agreements
  • Intellectual property due diligence and general corporate support
  • Intellectual property commercialisation strategies

The role demands an ability to run own matters without supervision and responsibility for early delivery of transactions, and involves plenty of client contact.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • Law Degree (or equivalent)
  • Experience of providing intellectual property services in private legal practice
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and work under pressure
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Attention to detail and ability to get a grip of the wider commercial issues
  • Excellent legal and commercial research skills
  • An understanding of clients’ needs and expectations
  • Excellence in service quality (service delivery and quality of services provided), through technical and service excellence
  • Ability to play a proactive part in business development activity
  • Adherence to guidelines and procedures.

Desirable

  • Ability to build and maintain professional working relationships, network and work collaboratively
  • Excellence in persuading and influencing and ability to remain an effective communicator under pressure
  • Good listening skills and willingness to receive and act on feedback
  • A proven track record of involvement in effective business development activity
